Dear Soldiers, 

It has come to our attention that some players are experiencing issues with the recent adjustments to the Hit Box.  This issue is generally associated with high ping rates due to latency difficulties that some players may be experiencing when communicating with the Combat Arms servers.  We are working to optimize the adjustments we have made and will be implementing additional fixes as soon as possible.

           ( Before reading, please note that there are ‘updates’ to this post, meaning the main body of text might be outdated with info. We suggest you also read the updated text near the end of this post, for a better understanding of our current position )

          Our clan has had all of our players dishonorably discharged, meaning we’ve all been demoted to trainees and have 0 gp.  This is due to the glitchers, or VIP hackers. Whoever in our clan that has been glitching/vip hacking, has gotten ALL of us demoted. All our hard work has gone down the drain. I, myself may be on the verge of quitting. (maybe!) 

I will keep this post updated when we get more information…. 

UPDATES:

Update1: Many people on the rankings seem to have been demoted. Many clans have had all their members demoted as well…. Are there really that many vip hackers/glitchers?

Update2: Seems that everyone in our clan has the ‘dishonorable discharge’ sign, but only one person has been actually demoted back to a trainee. ( Won’t mention name )

Update3: I have checked many ranked players ( at random ), and found that all of them have a ‘dishonorable discharge’ sign.  Seems that Nexon has made a glitch, that makes everyone  have a ‘dishonorable discharge’ sign in their player profile. There have been demotions, but the DD sign makes it confusing as to who really is a demoted player or not; unless you check their KDR / GP / EXP / Rank…etc.                       [Next stop...nexon forums...I'll check them tomorrow]

Do you think you got what it takes to lock horns with the best?  Do you have skills to take down the Military Police of Combat Arms?

We’re looking for a few good soldiers to take on the most dangerous mission of all…fighting the Combat Arms GMs. For the next few weeks during predetermined time slots, GMs will be creating special rooms somewhere in one of the Combat Arms game servers. They challenge you to find them, join them and face them down in combat! 

THE CALL TO ARMS

The GM Live games will take place sometime during the following scheduled time slots:

– Thursday, February 12th, 2009, between 1 – 4pm PST
– Wednesday, February 18th, 2009, between 6 – 9pm PST
– Thursday, February 26th, 2009, between 1 – 4 pm PST
– Wednesday, March 2nd, 2009, between 6 – 9 pm PST

When the GMs create a GM Live room, a server announcement will be made as to the location and name of the game. You will be able to recognize a legitimate GM Live room because in the game room lobby will be four GMs, each denoted with the GM icon next to his/her name: 

THE MISSION

The game mode for each match will be 16-player One Man Army in a War Zone of the GMs’ choosing.  Each GM Live event will begin sometime within each scheduled 3 hour time slot and last for approximately one hour.  During that hour, GMs will be hosting matches.  Each game will consist of four (4) GMs and twelve (12) Players.  Show the GMs and your other fellow players that you’re the ultimate One Man Army and win blood money!
THE PRIZE

Should a GM not emerge victorious, the first place victor of each match will be awarded 10,000 NX!  (If a GM is victorious for the match, no prize will be awarded.)  Additional mystery prizes will be handed out at the GMs’ discretion for particularly noteworthy gameplay.

THE RULES

– GM Games will take place for one hour sometime during the blocks of time specified above.
– GM Game Rooms will be announced in-game when they are created. First come first served. Stay alert!
– Each player will be eligible to play one GM match per daily time slot.  At the end of each match, all players will be removed from the game room and only new players will be allowed for the next match.
– All players must be in compliance with the Combat Arms Terms of Use or else risk removal from a GM Live game and/or disqualification from any prizes.
– Please note that per Nexon’s Terms of Service, impersonating a GM is an offence punishable by demotion or ban.

It is a ‘read only file’ and can not be edited unless you have the password. Unlike previous guides, this guide is not open source; so you can’t steal combat crew’s screenshot guide. We hope you find it useful.

 Submit your screenshots for a chance to win GP and NX Cash!

It’s time for you soldiers to do some deep reconnaissance! Central Command needs pictures from the front lines and as a hardened combat veteran, you’re in the perfect position to get them. Every week, beginning in February, one winning screenshot will be chosen by Nexon staff from the week’s submissions. Each week’s winner will earn 25,000 GP.

At the end of each month, all Combat Arms players will be able to vote on their favorite of the winning screenshots for that month through the Poll module on the Combat Arms main page. The monthly winner will receive an additional 25,000 NX!

RULES
– The period for submissions for each week’s contest will run from Thursday, 12:00am PST to the following Wednesday, 11:59pm PST.
– You may enter as many times each week as you want. One winner will be chosen per week as a Weekly Winner.  The pool of eligible screenshots will reset every week.  Each player may be a Weekly Winner only once per month.
– Each Weekly Winner will be automatically eligible as a candidate for the Monthly prize.  Monthly winners will be selected via a poll by registered players through the Combat Arms website. 
– Contest open only to persons 13 or older upon entering who are legal residents of, and physically located within, the 50 states, Washington D.C. or Canada (excluding Quebec). 
– Screenshots must be of game play. Screenshots that have been manipulated in any way will be disqualified. Screenshots that depict action in violation of any of Combat Arms Terms of Use will also be disqualified.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

It’s easy.  Just snap a screenshot in-game at an action-packed moment with the <Print Screen> key on your keyboard.  Screenshots taken this way can be found in your game folder (usually C:\Nexon\Combat Arms).  Submit your entry through the Events Submission page found by clickinghere.

Please include the following in the Details window of the Events Submission page:
– Your character name
– Your account ID 

Eligible screenshots must be in JPEG format and no larger than 750K.  Please include only one image per entry.

Winning screenshots will be posted on the Combat Arms website. All submitted screenshots become the property of Nexon America, Inc. By submitting material to the Combat Arms Weekly Screenshot Contest you acknowledge that you have read and understand the RULES AND REGULATIONS found here.

Nexon closes Vancouver Developement studio

Thanks to numerous tips, Kotaku has now confirmed with staff at Nexon America that the company’s Vancouver-based development studio has shuttered its doors today, leaving upwards of 90 employees looking for jobs.

We’ve just gotten off the phone with the helpful, friendly receptionist at the Vancouver Nexon America development studio, who informed us that all of the approximately 90 employees at the location were let go this morning, and that the studio was now closed. One of our tipsters indicates that the news came by way of a studio-wide meeting this morning, which was expected to result in only half of the workforce being let go.

The Vancouver studio was actively working on the development of Nexon titles. The company’s existing properties – MapleStory, Combat Arms, Mabinogi, etc. – should not be affected by this closure.

Our hearts go out to the displaced employees of Nexon Vancouver, especially the incredibly helpful receptionist manning the phones in the face of such turmoil.
